Meet Blaze, Part I

Blaze just turned 3 years old and just before his 3rd birthday he was officially diagnosed with Autism. I thought I would try to explain what that means in a series of posts because I have a feeling that not everyone really understands how Autism plays out in everyday life. I know before Blaze I had no idea. To start Blaze is a wonderful, happy, loving child. He is a genius… I swear. He looks at the world in a totally different way than most of us do. In addition to his amazing mind, he has a language delay, sensory issues, a tons of food allergies and social challenges. I wish I could give you a quick explanation but each child’s autistic make up is unique. They have a saying “if you’ve met one person with Autism, you’ve met one person with Autism.”  I think it is important to understand Blaze so that you can

understand the challenges we are faced with daily. I am focused on being positive and setting an inspirational tone but there is a little backstory that you have to understand. You have to know the bitter to know the sweet.

Before I do I want to say something to my dear boy, because I know he will read this someday.

Dear Blaze,

I am writing this because I want everyone to know that you are amazing in so many ways.  I am so blessed to have you and you have taught me so much already. I now look at the world in a different way and that is all thanks to you my beautiful boy. I apologize in advance if any of what I write embarrasses you but if we have done our job right you will look back at these and be so very proud of who you are, what you have been through and what you have become. I love you baby!

Love- Momma

Please keep coming back this week so I can introduce you to the star of Blazeyourpath.com… Blaze!!!
